You’re too amazing to write boring emails

You may be tempted to email that hiring manager this after your interview.

“I’m excited about the position and I appreciate your time.”

tl;dr – much better templates below.

However, there are 3 problems with this:

It’s all about you not your target

You’re too amazing to write boring emails

That’s what everyone else says (including ChatGPT)

…which is why we don’t let AI write for us, right? Riiiiight?

(but, I digress)

Anyway -- there’s a better way to follow up that’s all about THEM.

Which is why they’re hiring you in the first place.

To solve their problems

To make their life/job easier

To delight their boss/bottom line

And there’s also

  • Timing

  • Frequency

  • Personalization

that works exceptionally well.

But there are TWO rules you must follow:

>> Make it about THEM

Remove “I” wherever possible to focus on what’s important to the person you’re writing to.

>>Mean it

Human evolution is based on intuition and sensing danger – so it’s evident when someone is inauthentic.

(That’s why people talk about going with your gut so often)

Be real or don’t say it.

And if you’re having trouble thinking of something authentic to share, consider what the person you’re writing to is looking to achieve or know. What would make their life easier and what pressure might they be under that they’d be eager to remove with one wave of a magic wand.

Let empathy, curiosity, and connection be your guides!

BONUS: If you really want to get savvy and swift with these – save these templates as templated emails and update your target’s name and company name before sending them.

and if you go this time saving route, be sure to give them a read-through before sending, just in case

If this was useful, consider sending to a friend in the industry. We’ll be releasing many of these tools from the Traction Resume vault this year. My mission is to help 150 people land great medical sales roles this year, despite all the layoffs happening and it being a hiring market.
